Certifications (C-TPAT, FAST)
In 2002 the United States Customs introduced the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, or C-TPAT, to heighten the security of trade channels from acts of terrorism. In September of 2003 Sameday Worldwide was accepted as a Canadian Trade Partner Against Terrorism carrier. In August 2005 we were audited by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and were validated as a fully compliant C-TPAT Company, at the same time we became Partners in Protection (PIP) with the Canada Border Services Agency. These validations, in addition to Free and Secure Trade (FAST) / Carrier Self Assessment (CSA) drivers, provides a proven secure environment to customers for their shipments, whether in a Sameday facility or while in transit.
CSA and FAST programs are joint Canada – U.S. initiatives involving the Canada Border Services Agency, Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the United States Bureau of Customs and Border Protection.
FAST/CSA supports moving pre-approved eligible goods across the border quickly and verifying trade compliance away from the border. It is a harmonized commercial process offered to pre-approved importers, carriers, and registered drivers. Shipments for approved companies, transported by approved carriers using registered drivers, will be cleared into either country with greater speed and certainty, and at a reduced cost of compliance.
Sameday drivers are FAST approved.
ACE, Automated Commercial Environment, is the next step in terms of automating the import function as it relates to the US Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP). All modes will be required to provide advanced notification of goods entering the US consistent with rigorous electronic procedures the CBP has developed. The advance notification includes information on driver, conveyance and shipment detail. These processes and procedures are all part of a long term undertaking to both simplify the importation of goods, while improving the security and scrutiny of products entering the US at its various borders. Sameday has taken the initiative and is one of the first Canadian Carriers to be ACE ready. Once ACE is implemented Sameday customers will not experience the delays or set backs that those shippers using non-ACE compliant carriers may experience.
